…….The fields of carrying out fundamental and applied researches at Institute is immensely wide wide. It allows to conduct complex researches of a structure of substance and the physicochemical processes proceeding both in volume, and on its surface or on border of section of phases.
The institute has the unique experimental base including:
A complex of setups and sources of ionizing radiation, including linear electron accelerators and gamma radiation sources;
- A special “hot” laboratory for the experiments with highly active radionuclides;
- An original station for radioactive waste processing;
Corrosion stations for field tests in Moscow, Zvenigorod, Murmansk and Vladivostok (additional possibilities are offered by a system of stations belonging to the Tropical Center of RAS, which are located in various climate zones);
- A system of setups (including autoclaves) for accelerated testing of materials;
A bank of data gained in many-year atmospheric corrosion tests for numerous materials and various means of protection;
A system of continuous monitoring and computer processing of meteorological data and corrosion characteristics of tested materials;
- A computer-controlled laboratory for static and dynamic autoclave testing of unloaded and mechanically loaded materials in aqueous solutions at high temperatures and pressures.
The Center for the Collective Use of Physical Methods of Investigation organized in 2002 for the collective use of advanced equipment allows practically any problem related to physicochemical investigation of substances and their bulk and surface properties to be solved.
